Mfon-Abasi received her MFA in Costume Design and Technology from the University of Virginia and her undergraduate degree from Arizona State University with a BA in Theater, concentrating in Costume Design. Designing costumes for stage and film has always been her aspiration. She loves designing costumes because it helps spark her imagination as an artist and enables her to create the type of work that brings audiences to celebrate life, culture, community, and the environment we surround ourselves. To her, the theater is a reflection of life, and as an artist, she uses colors, lines, shapes, and texture to capture the world of the play. She loves designing clothing because it allows her to create a sense of time and to promote cultural awareness through clothes.
