MFON-ABASI OBONG

The play examines the lives, hopes, dreams, and fears of nine Iraqi women and an Iraqi-American woman in the years between the first and second Gulf Wars. I started out by researching types of traditional and contemporary Iraqi garments to see how the garments are worn today bridge the world between the new and old ways of life. The objective is to create costumes that can help the audience to understand the cultural, physical and the emotional dimensions of the lives of the characters in this play.
